The New Rochelle Police Department received a report shortly after 12:45 a.m. on Monday, July 2, of a robbery at a Main Street apartment, and that one of the suspects involved had suffered a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the 21-year-old tenant, along with three others, including one of the suspects, Darius Rogers, who was bleeding from his hand stemming from the gunshot wound.
Police said that the investigation into the incident determined that Rogers, armed with a handgun, and a second suspect, allegedly entered the apartment with the intention to commit a robbery.
Investigators noted that narcotics were present in the apartment at the time of the attempted robbery, during which, Rogers was struck by a bullet in the hand, shot by the tenant, Nicholas Collado.
Rogers was transported to a local hospital for treatment on the injury, and now faces charges that include first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Collado was also arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of marijuana. Another person in the apartment, Brittany Lebon is also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of marijuana.
According to police, they are attempting to identify and track down the second robbery suspect who fled the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and investigators noted that more charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.
